Africa Ecotourism: Green Continent Extraordinaire
Africa. It seemed so exotic in my imagination before I first journeyed there, and after I've had a little taste of Africa on a couple visits, it has become technicolor exotic. From the classic Hollywood visions of Casablanca to Hemingway's safari prose, Africa is everything I imagined and more. And now with the evolving Africa ecotourism, the Green Continent, as I like to think of it, can offer you endless awe-inspiring green adventures.
Being the second largest continent, with the second largest population, you could ecoholiday in Africa for decades and still have something new to see and do on your next trips. Including all the island groups, 53 countries call Africa home. As do the world's largest comglomeration of free-ranging wild animal populations, like lions, hyenas, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, cheetahs, deer, zebras and camels.
There is not a much more thrilling feeling than being up close with wild elephants roaming free.
Africa is a perfect destination for photo safari enthusiasts. In addition to the wild animal opportunities, Africa's climate span from tropical to desert to subarctic on the highest mountain peaks, yields breathtaking landscape subjects aplenty.
And for the more active ecotourist, world-class mountaineering, desert safariing, and water sports abound on a large scale.
The cultures in Africa are countless. Languages, cuisines, and arts are rich in diversity and history, and are too numerous to even overview here. But an eco-cultural holiday could refill your creative well and inspire you with fresh stimuli to feed you for a lifetime.
